Dr. Janice Fortman, Ed.D., DTM, is an international motivational speaker, an award-winning author, and relationship coach. Dr. Jan believes that communication is the foundation for all relationships, both personal and professional. Her mission is to improve the quality of relationships through the use of effective communication. The award-winning book, "The Secrets to How NOT to Throw Mama from the Train”, focuses on the relationship between adult daughters and their aging mothers, and the communication patterns that cause difficulties in the relationship that effects all aspects of our lives. Her coaching and consulting in this area has shifted these relationships from negative to positive.
She received first place in the non-fiction book category from Authors Promoting Success International (APS) in 2018. She has a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and holds the rank of Distinguished Toastmaster with Toastmasters International. She is a member of Women's Speakers Association, Global Woman Club, International Association of Women, and was recognized by the National Association of Professional Women as the Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in public speaking. She was also selected as the female entrepreneur to watch by Woman Entrepreneur Magazine and a finalist for the Honorary Global Woman 2021 award. Her articles appear in Global Achievers and Woman Entrepreneur Magazine, to name a few. Dr. Jan was recognized by Age Options for her outstanding volunteer service to older adults from 2017 – 2019.
